Random : Elastic Houses
The ‘Elastic House’, finds its shape in French sculptor, Etienne Meneau’s Le Maison. The house units are made of scrims pulled tightly over a modular frame. These units can be arranged and re-arranged as per the requirements of the inhabitants. These units are intentionally unstable, and are meant for those who want to be driven by the forces of nature.

Work Progress : The animation is being compiled together in parts. we will be further refining and stitching them up.
The concept : As per our research on demographics and housing trends, we found that the curve was bent more towards the aged and the retired and on the other hand towards young children. Basically indicating the presence of a large number of ‘empty nests’. Also due to the lack of entertainment or commercial activities, just the basic neccesities, people generally travel outside AJ for business, work and higher education, and so the absence of a large young crowd. The Housing trend shows a rise in the concept of mobile homes and RV’s, because of economics, displacement and the emptiness caused by unnecessarily large suburban homes.
Our focus is to challenge this trend of the life cycle with a house that could adjust with it.
